TILLAMOOK, Ore. – Werner Gourmet Meat Snacks Inc. announced a new jerky product on Sept. 3 that contains no sugar or carbs and contains 18 grams of protein per serving.
Each jerky package comes with 2-oz. bags in three different flavors: Original, Salt & Pepper and Unsweetened Teriyaki-Style.
"We have seen other jerky brands touting either zero sugar or grass-fed beef, but few are pairing the two together," said Ken Werner, president and co-founder of Werner. "This new product really elevates the Werner brand and brings a unique product to the category."
The jerky features grass-fed beef that is made in small batches. It is minimally processed with no artificial ingredients, gluten free and no added nitrites, nitrates or MSG.
“There is a lot of research out there to support this kind of product,” said Lauren Seeger, director of marketing. “We reviewed several consumer and snacking-focused surveys which show consumers are substantially decreasing their sugar intake year over year. With the high protein and lean grass-fed beef, this product line really is a true meat snack and aligns perfectly with those following Paleo, Keto, Whole30 and other special diet programs.”
In May, the company celebrated its 25th year in business by changing its brand identity and packaging. Currently, the company employs about 120 people and processes products in an 85,000-sq.-ft. facility in Tillamook County, Oregon.
