AUSTIN, MINN. – Adding to its extensive line of more than a dozen canned chili products, Hormel Foods Corp. announced the launch of two varieties of chili, designed as a pour-over topping for hot dogs. As an extension of the Hormel Chili brand, its two new products are Chili Cheese and Coney Island Chili, formulated to offer a thicker product to ensure it remains on hot dogs more consistently than other no-bean chilis.
The company’s launch capitalizes on the popularity of hot dogs and plays into Hormel’s national “Pour On” advertising campaign that was launched earlier this year. The products are available in 15-oz cans and are priced between $2.09 and $2.79 at retail food stores across the country.
“Consumers love chili dogs,” said Sarah Johnson, Hormel chili brand manager. “While usage spikes in the summer, we know consumers enjoy chili dogs year-round. Our new pour-over chilis provide consumers a convenient, exciting and great tasting option to upgrade their daily meal routine.”
In addition to Hormel branded chili, the company also produces Stagg Chili, which dates back to its 1996 acquisition of Stagg Foods Inc. for $50 million in cash and stock.
