LIBERAL, KAN. – A person died from injuries sustained during an industrial accident at a National Beef Packing Co. processing plant in Liberal, Kan., according to the company.

The incident occurred on Jan. 29. In a statement, National Beef said the employee was immediately transported to a local medical center before being pronounced dead. The company said no one else was injured in the accident. 

“Our primary concern is for the wellbeing of this employee’s family and the safety of our team members in Liberal,” National Beef said in its release. “We have grief counselors available to team members and are focused on their immediate needs. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”

The company said it is working with regulatory authorities on the ongoing investigation of the accident.
