BOSTON — Jim O'Rourke has been named chief supply chain officer at Motif FoodWorks, a food technology company focused on solving sensory and nutritional challenges around plant-based foods.
He brings more than 25 years of supply chain leadership experience to the company. He most recently was chief procurement officer at investment company Vanguard, where he led the development and delivery of procurement for more than $4.2 billion in spend. Before that, he was chief procurement officer and senior vice president at Conagra Brands, Inc., vice president of integration optimization at The J.M. Smucker Co. and director of purchases at The Folgers Coffee Co. He also held a variety of roles in manufacturing, material management, engineering, quality, research and development, new business development, strategic sourcing, contract manufacturing and professional services at Procter & Gamble.
In his new role, O'Rourke will provide leadership and oversight on all matters related to supply chain and procurement, including facilities oversight, manufacturing strategy and demand planning.
“We're thrilled to welcome Jim to Motif,” said Jonathan McIntyre, chief executive officer of Motif FoodWorks. “It's a time of rapid growth for us, as we continue to use science in new ways to unleash the promise of plant-based foods. Jim's extensive experience will help us as we scale the company in anticipation of our first product launch later this year.”
O'Rourke joins Motif on the heels of its $226 million Series B funding round in June. The company has unveiled several plant-based technologies over the past year, including meltable cheese and marbleized fat. It also has previewed two upcoming food technologies to improve the taste, aroma and texture of plant-based meat alternatives.
