WALL, SD. — Wall Meat Processing recently announced that it completed the Cooperative Interstate Shipment (CIS) program, which authorizes the meat processor to ship products across state lines, following a two-year application process.
Wall is the first plant in South Dakota to complete the two-year application process and to be approved for CIS. In 2021, South Dakota joined eight other states permitting state-inspected plants to ship products throughout the United States.
On its Facebook page, Wall thanked officials that helped the effort.
“Thank you to Mayor Mary and Myron Willams. Your family beef is the first to receive the First Stamp! It is our honor to make that happen,” said Ken Charfauros, owner of Wall Meat Processing on Facebook. “So many other special thank yous go to Lt. Governor Rhoden, Mayor Williams, Wall council members, Senator Thune and Rounds office, Mark Haugen and Jim Shelchert, from Congressman Johnson’s office, Katie Murray, for just being there to celebrate with us. SD Cattlemen and SD Farm Bureau as well. We have had a lot of challenges but overcame them with your support.”
