WASHINGTON — Mitten Gourmet LLC, a food manufacturer based in Freeland, Mich., is recalling over 1,100 lbs of ready-to-eat pork rind products, announced the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on May 10. The pork rinds were produced without the benefit of inspection, the agency said.
Mitten Gourmet produced nine different flavors of the RTE pork rinds. The following products, which were produced between Sept. 9, 2021, and May 5, 2023, are subject to the recall:
- 2.0-oz clear bags containing Mitten Gourmet “PARMESAN GARLIC Pork Rinds”
- 2.0-oz clear bags containing Mitten Gourmet “PIZZA Pork Rinds”
- 2.0-oz clear bags containing Mitten Gourmet “BUFFALO Pork Rinds”

Since Mitten Gourmet is not a federally inspected establishment, the products do not bear the USDA mark of inspection.
During routine surveillance activities, FSIS inspectors discovered that the RTE products were sold without federal inspection.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the pork rinds.
