NEENAH, WIS. — Amcor was honored with two AmeriStar awards from the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) for its McCoy dunnage free IBC liners and its Perflex S grab-n-go shrink bags for meat and poultry.
“We are honored to be recognized for Amcor’s innovative applications and design achievements by the IoPP,” said Brian Carvill, vice president of research and development at Amcor Flexibles North America. “Our capabilities in material science, packaging technologies, and our strong commitment to solving complex performance needs and sustainability challenges creates cost-saving opportunities for brands, and more convenience for consumers.”
The 330-gallon McCoy dunnage free bulk container liner offers durability with reduced waste and cost. The sustainable packaging solution uses co-polymer blends and decreased materials per ply, making it less susceptible to pinhole leaks and flex-cracking during transit.
As a 2.0 mil solution, the liner boasts of a 25% reduction in carbon emissions compared to a 2.75 mil standard liner, and it lowers packaging costs by up to 40%.
Due to the durability of the liner, waste from secondary packaging, like foam, cardboard or additional strapping, is eliminated.
Amcor’s Perflex S grab-n-go shrink bags make it easy to carry slick, heavy, fresh or frozen meat and poultry up to 22 lbs. Its innovative handle design integrated into the shrink bag eliminates the need for plastic netting with a clipped loop. By reducing packing material and manufacturing steps, this new solution offers 17% cost savings.
IoPP plans to showcase Amcor’s liners and shrink bags at the upcoming PACK EXPO in Las Vegas, Sept. 11-13. Amcor will also display the AmeriStar award-winning solutions at its booth.
The AmerStar awards competition has recognized nearly 650 professionals in North America since its inception in 2001.
