SPRINGDALE, ARK. — A recent filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) confirmed that Melanie Boulden is Tyson Foods Inc.’s new group president of Prepared Foods and chief growth officer.
Boulden started with the meat producer in Feb. 2023 with the title of chief growth officer. She reports to chief executive officer Donnie King.
“Creating a more unified team across Prepared Foods and Growth empowers us to anticipate and respond to business challenges and opportunities with greater impact,” Boulden said on Sept. 22 in a statement. “As we continue to build for the future, we remain committed to fostering the customer and consumer-centric approach that will drive us forward and help us deliver results against our strategy.”
With the promotion, Boulden will look over Tyson's retail, foodservice and ecommerce portfolio including Tyson, Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farm and Ball Park.
The job of group president of Prepared Foods became vacant on Sept. 14 when Stewart Glendinning resigned from his position. Glendinning took the position of CEO for Express Inc., a retail fashion company.
When brought on for the chief growth officer role at Tyson, Donnie King touted the hiring of Boulden.
"Melanie is an exceptional talent and a proven leader in growing global household brand businesses,” King said in Dec. 2022. “She has the creative, operational and financial experience to drive value creation across Tyson Foods’ brand portfolio. The introduction of the new chief growth officer role will allow Melanie to develop a world-class center of excellence around brand marketing that will be critical as Tyson Foods continues to focus on future growth.”
Before joining the meat company, Boulden worked as chief marketing officer of Coca-Cola North America.
Other recent executive changes in September included Doug Kulka becoming chief technology officer and chief information officer after Danyel Bischof-Forsyth left the company.
