ORANGE, CALIF. — Herdez, a Hormel Foods Corp. brand, has unveiled a new addition to its line of refrigerated Mexican-style entrees: Barbacoa Shredded Beef in Sauce.
The heat-and-eat product features slow-cooked beef mixed with orange and lime juice, paprika and a Mexican-inspired spice blend. Herdez’s convenience-focused offering is ready-to-serve after 10 minutes of heating, and each serving contains 11 grams of protein. The barbacoa variety marks the first entry into Herdez’ refrigerated entrees since the product line launched in April.
“Fans have been raving about Herdez Brand Mexican Refrigerated Entrees since we launched the line early this year, so we’re pleased to deliver a new variety to satisfy their flavor cravings and enable them to put food on the table quickly and conveniently,” said Giselle Olson, brand manager at Herdez. “We’re always looking to provide people ways to enjoy the bold and authentic flavors they crave, and our new Barbacoa entree takes your tastebuds on a trip to Mexico while giving at-home cooks a hearty, yet easy-to-prepare option that works for any quick meal or occasion, from breakfast tacos to protein bowls.”
Herdez Barbacoa Shredded Beef in Sauce is rolling out in 15-oz packages into Meijer and Walmart locations in October, with further retail availability expected later this fall.
