TUSCALOOSA, ALA. — Poultry processor Peco Foods announced two promotions on its senior leadership team.
Cameron Sanders will serve as Peco’s corporate director of animal health and welfare and sustainability, and John Taylor Hickman will work as the corporate director of feed ingredients and land management.
In his new role, Sanders will be responsible for directing the company’s efforts in policy, training, auditing and research and development related to animal health and welfare. He will also lead Peco’s sustainability efforts pertaining to resource management and environmental stewardship.
Since joining the company in 2016, Sanders has held varying roles at Peco. In addition to his position at the company, he currently serves on the National Chicken Council’s Broiler Welfare Committee.
Sanders earned his bachelor’s degree in poultry science-production from Mississippi State University, specializing in global business at Troy University.
“At Peco, we respect all aspects of sustainability and are committed to setting the industry standard while doing the right things for the environment, our animals and our people,” said Mark Hickman, president and chief executive officer of Peco. “Cameron has demonstrated his dedication to not only our company but to the communities we serve, and we are confident he will lead us in advancing our sustainability journey and providing the best care possible for our birds.”
Promoted from feed ingredient purchasing manager, John Taylor Hickman will now oversee feed ingredient purchasing, feed mill operations and the working relationships with Peco’s farmers.
After completing the Management Training Program at Keystone Food Group, Hickman began working with Peco full time in 2016 and has since held several positions within the company.
Hickman earned his bachelor’s degree in commerce and business administration with a management concentration and a minor in natural resources and land management from The University of Alabama.
“Our relationships with local family farmers and the communities we serve are vital to building a sustainable supply chain for everyone,” said Roddy Sanders, executive vice president and director of live operations. “John Taylor is a natural connector who builds strong relationships with our family farmers and puts quality above all else. We look forward to seeing our grain purchasing and feed mills continue to grow under his leadership.”
