DECATUR, ALA. — On Oct. 19, several reports confirmed that an industrial accident occurred at a Wayne Sanderson Farms further processing plant in Decatur, Ala., that resulted in one man dying from injuries.
“We are deeply saddened about the passing of one of our team members, Keith Kelsoe,” said Frank Singleton, spokesperson for Wayne-Sanderson Farms to MEAT+POULTRY. “We share our deepest condolences with his loved ones and are providing local chaplain services and grief counseling for family, friends, and team members at our Decatur facility.”
Wayne-Sanderson stated that Kelsoe worked at the plant since May 2008. The company will investigate the accident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating the incident.
According to local information, the first responders arrived at the facility at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday following a 911 call.
