DALLAS – Ben Rosenthal and Ashli Rosenthal Blumenfeld, co-presidents of Standard Meat Co. (SMC) were announced as recipients of the national 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year award in the US family business category presented by Ernst & Young.

The siblings have been in the company’s leadership position for six years. In that time, they have continued to expand the client base with fast-casual and quick-service restaurant spaces to fuel company growth.

“Blumenfeld and Rosenthal are skillfully leading SMC in an industry that feeds on ingenuity to meet demand in a world hungry for quality,” Ernst & Young said in its announcement on its website. “They have continued the family’s tradition of innovation through the early adoption of sous vide cooking technology (now a major growth driver), an industry-leading cast-iron searing approach to meat preparation and the strategic entry into the burgeoning meal-kit delivery space.”

Founded in 1935, SMC is headquartered in the Fort Worth Stockyard and has meat processing and packaging plants in Dallas, Saginaw and Ponder, Texas. The company supplies custom meat processing and packaging solutions for the foodservice and retail industries.

In January, the company announced plans for a new protein processing plant in Fort Worth.
