OTTAWA, Ontario – XL Foods voluntarily recalled a variety of ground beef products on concerns that they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said Sept. 17.
CFIA is warning consumers, distributors and food service establishments not to consume, sell or serve the products. The recall is part of an ongoing food safety investigation. No illnesses were reported in connection with the products, CFIA said.
XL Foods, Edmonton, Alberta, is owned by Nilsson Brothers Inc. which is a network of livestock-based businesses that include auction marts, feedlots and cow-calf ranches throughout western Canada.
