MADISON, WIS. – The International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) announced on March 31 that IDDBA 2020, which was scheduled for May 31 through June 2, has been canceled in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
On March 29, US Surgeon General Jerome Adams deemed Indianapolis, where the conference was set to take place, as an emerging hotspot for the spread of COVID-19, which spurred the decision to cancel IDDBA 2020.
“With the global impacts and hardships our members, community, and industry continue to face while carrying the daunting responsibility to keep food on our tables during these difficult times, we had to make the unavoidable decision to cancel,” said Mike Eardley, IDDBA president and chief executive officer.
Registration and exhibitor fees for the conference will be fully refunded. IDDBA 2020 exhibitors will have the option of either a full refund or a full credit toward the IDDBA 2021 show. Exhibitors are asked to contact IDDBA with their choice by May 1.
The association is actively planning for IDDBA 2021, which is set to be held on June 6-8, 2021, in Houston.
“Our hearts go out to all those with family and friends battling this virus,” Eardley said. “This has been unlike anything I have seen in my lifetime of being in this business.”
