IRVINE, CALIF. — Taco Bell is removing 12 menu items across six categories to “clear out space” on the menu and “create a more efficient experience,” the Yum! Brands subsidiary announced.
The Grilled Steak Soft Taco, 7-Layer Burrito, Nachos Supreme, Beefy Fritos Burrito, Spicy Tostado Burrito, Triple Layer Nachos, Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, Cheesy Potato and Beefy Nacho Loaded Grillers, Chips and Dips and Mini Skillet Bowl will be removed from menus beginning Aug. 13.
Menu-cutting decisions were based largely on the need to increase speed of service as drive-thru becomes a larger portion of business during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the company said.
The downsizing comes after the chain cut nine items last year.
“While change is hard, a simplified menu and innovation process will leave room for new fan favorites, continued progress in categories such as plant-based diets, and even opportunities for the return of some classics on a limited time basis,” Taco Bell said.
The updated menu also will feature new additions, including a $5 Grande Nachos Box and $1 Beef Burrito.
